"Reading theory is also breathing, the letting expand of my lungs, the letting be sensitive and the flex of membranes and muscles, a filling up of my chest. Give me Merleau-Ponty talking about touch, even if I do so alone, even if I get him wrong, even if it keeps me from touch. There is not this simple divide." - Lette Bragg, The Ruins of Solitude
First readings will be short selections from Lette Bragg, The Ruins of Solitude and Lauren Berlant and Kathleen Steward, The Hundreds. Found here! We picked these because they are theories emerging out of life and living. They also seem to share a loose theme of relationality that we picked up on. Excited to see what other folks see in them. Our idea is that -- if folks are game -- maybe someone else can pick the readings for next time so we get exposed to different texts / interests.
We'll make some delicious breakfast foods with veggie options :)
Look forward to seeing you there!
